7Villages

Our conference, other conferences and national UMC agencies have partnered to create a new kind of online network for the United Methodist Church. 

The goal was to create an online system that would allow United Methodists to connect locally and nationally – to share stories, ideas, resources, needs and more.

How can you use 7Villages?

• Connect with people by what you do.  Are you a choir director, youth minister, camp director, pastor or something else looking for ideas?  Why not create a local or national village and invite in all others that share your job or ministry.
  
  
• Connect with people in your local church and neighboring churches. Better yet connect with people in other cities and states.
  
  
• Create a village for your activity groups – leagues, scouting, etc.
  
  
• Check out the different villages for information and resources that can help you professionally or personally. 
  
  
• Do you serve on committees in your church, district or conference?  Why not create a village for your committee to keep everyone on the same page.
  
  
• Are you looking for volunteers?  Create a village and then post a need.
  
  
• Are you looking for volunteer opportunities?  Browse needs locally or nationally.
  
  
• Use the site for connection with friends and family. How about creating a village to "Connect your clan" where relatives can update relatives on family news and happenings. Once on 7Villages people of all ages will find ways they can make a difference.

	What is 7Villages? It's four things in one. It's a social network for leaders, members, and organizations that want to make the world a better place. It's a blogging system to share your thoughts, ideas, beliefs, and knowledge with others like you. It's a community library of resources, ideas, best practices, and more. It's a volunteer connecting system that allows individuals to find opportunities, and organizations to post needs.
	Who in this group would use 7Villages? It’s actually a trick question; they all would. Our members come for all types of reasons. Sandy L. is trying to clean the banks of the local river. Jacob B. offers faith-based readings for his congregation. Owen T. uses 7Villages to help organize his Cub Scout troop. Vanessa K. is sharing successful teaching techniques. Rosario uses it to spread the word about her international hunger relief program.
	We’ve got 545 people in Cleveland who have Saturday’s off and would like to volunteer. What would you like them to do first? 7Villages connects like-minded people together, creating a virtual army working for a common good. 	Do you have a great idea? Why not share it with 2,000 of your closest friends? Did you have success getting donations with a letter you wrote? Share it. Did you develop a children’s ministry curriculum for your church that worked really well. Share it. 7Villages then becomes a library of great ideas. Pull one out whenever you need it.
