Bridges to the Future Capital Campaign

Because of Bridges to the Future, this is happening:

Bridges funds are making a difference
Pledge dollars that are being sent to fulfill “Bridges to the Future” pledges made during the 2007-08 campaign are being used toward the ministries of the campaign.

The Bridges campaign received $5.25 million in pledges from individuals, churches and foundations to be fulfilled over the next five years. As of March 1, $881,430 has been received. According to notations on pledges of when pledges would be paid, this amount is 90 percent of what was expected in pledge payments to this point.

Camp Chippewa gets renovations from Bridges funds
Campers and visitors will find changes happening at Camp Chippewa because of the “Bridges to the Future” capital campaign. A new shelter house has been put up next to the pool and another at Swan Creek/North Cabin while it is being renovated.

“This is an exciting time for Camp Chippewa, as staff and C.M.A.T anxiously await the completion of Swan Creek/North Cabin, and visioning the next area for renewal.” said Becky Moore, camp office manager.

Winter 2008: Thanks to the Bridges to the Future capital campaign, Kansas State University United Methodist campus ministry has purchased a new building at 1001 Sunset Ave., on the northwest corner of Sunset Avenue and College Heights Road in Manhattan. The purchase of this building will help ignite more ministry on the K-State campus as it reaches more students with its new location, space and facilities.

Through Bridges to the Future funding, churches in the Kansas East Conference have an opportunity for revitalization through the “Abide” program. This program allows funding for churches to send their pastor and several lay people to attend overnight retreats encouraging faith and stirring vision, a year involved in the Incubator process to develop leadership, learning and transformation through a Ministry Action Plan, and on-going coaching by Abide and Incubator facilitators. Presently there are seven churches registered in the Kansas East Conference to participate in the 2009 Abide Program.

Pledges

How has your church decided to pay their pledge? A packet of materials was sent to each church (attention to the pastor) earlier this month outlining a variety of ideas as well as a DVD that contains two videos that can be used to help publicize the “Bridges to the Future” initiative. For help setting up some of these or other ideas, contact Gary Beach, 1-877-972-9111 or Gbeach@kansaseast.com

Fundraising resources and a list of fundraising ideas are available on the Raising Your Church Pledge page.

Making Individual Pledges
Use this online Bridges to the Future Individual Pledge Card to submit your pledge electronically. For church pledges, please email Gary Beach at GBeach@kansaseast.org  to obtain pledge card or report a church pledge. Please do not use the Individual Pledge Card link above to report local church pledges.

Paying an Individual or Church pledge
When your church pays their pledge, please be sure to mark in the memo of the check "Bridges to the Future" and enclose the Pledge Remittance Form. The form is in Microsoft Word format so you can type into it and save it to your computer for future reference.

All pledges are sent to the Kansas East Conference office, Attn: Russ Hinshawn, P.O. Box 4187, Topeka KS 66604-0187. Please do not include them in your church's remittance. Make sure it is clear that this is a separate Bridges Pledge payment.
