Annual Conference

The 2013 Kansas East Annual Conference session will be May 30 - June 1 at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood.

As the lay and clergy members will also need to plan on attending the Uniting Conference in August, this year's session has been shortened to save them time and money. Consequently, committees and agencies that normally request time on the agenda will not be able to have that time this year. We invite those groups to share their ministries through reports in the workbook and journal and through displays. Deadlines and information follows:

Deadlines:

By Feb. 15: Submit items for the Session News, including plans for speakers, meals, pre-conference events, etc. to the conference secretary at confsec@kansaseast.org.

By Feb. 28: All requests to reserve rooms and arrange meals at Church of the Resurrection must be made through Libby Oberdorf. Download an AC Meeting Room form HERE. All forms must be submit it to libbyoberdorf@gmail.com by Feb. 28. If you have any questions, please direct them to Libby and she will assist you.

By March 1:

Prepare your board or committee's report for the conference workbook and send it to the Conference Secretary. Instructions here.
Submit petitions in the appropriate format - guidelines here and sample petition here. (If the petition involves financial implications, it is due by February 1 so that it may be reviewed by the Council on Finance and Administration.)
Reserve display space for your ministry area through kecdisplay@kansaseast.org Priority will be given to conference agencies until March 15, at which time the reservations will be open to others, including commercial agencies.

By May 15: Submit printed promotional materials and business items to be included in the packet distributed at Annual Conference to Kay Inman at kinman@kansaseast.org or PO Box 4187, Topeka, KS 66604.

Please plan to bring to Annual Conference:

Again this year, the Imagine No Malaria initiative will be the recipient of an offering at Annual Conference and we encourage all local churches to receive an offering prior to Annual Conference to be included.
The Uniting Conference Worship Team is asking that each local church bring to their individual annual conferences a small vial of water. These vials will be poured into a large vessel that will be brought to the Uniting Conference and used symbolically as part of our uniting.
Everyone is invited to bring a 40” x ¼” piece of yarn or strip of fabric from an old tablecloth, vestment, or other meaningful fabric to be woven into an altar cloth for the Uniting Conference. You may leave your strip at the registration table or place it in the offering basket during the opening worship.
