Kansas East Mission:
To connect and empower people and churches in living out the Gospel's call to invite, nurture, equip and send forth disciples of Jesus Christ.
Vision:
People and Churches spiritually alive and growing
Strategy and Measures by end of 2011
Invite:
- New church starts in the Area (10 between 2008-2012)
- Annual growth in worship attendance
- Double the number of active students in United Methodist campus ministries by 2011 from 276 to 552
Nurture:
- 75% of churches reporting growth in professions of faith
- Increase percentage of members in worship to 50%
- Growth in youth participation in the local church: 6% growth per year
- Increase number of campers at our United Methodist camps: 5% growth per year
- Increase participation in small groups: 5% growth per year
Equip:
- At least one trained disaster response contact/coordinator for each local church
- Improve apportionment payout by 2% per year
- Increase financial stewardship among United Methodists as measured by a rate increase in giving to the church
- Increase leadership development through participation in Abide, Incubator and Leadership and Faith Transforming Communities and other efforts thereby reaching 80% of all congregations and clergy
Send:
- 10% of worship attenders of each church participate in a mission trip or other hands-on mission project each year
- Increase the number of young persons going into ordained and licensed ministry so that East moves from 10% to 15% under 35 and West moves from 8% to 13% under 35
- Increased work with the poor through training leaders about best practices, examining opportunities for new ministries and social justice advocacy
