The United Methodist Church’s top legislative body, the General Conference, will gathered April 24-May 4 in Tampa, Florida. Nine hundred and eighty-eight delegates from around the world set policy and direction for the church, as well as handled other business. General Conference is the only entity that speaks for The United Methodist Church.

General and Jurisdictional Conference Delegation
The Kansas East Conference delegation to the 2012 General and Jurisdictional Conferences was elected at the 2011 conference session. The clergy delegates to General Conference are Adam Hamilton and Rena Yocom and the lay delegates are Luke Wetzel and Oliver Green. Serving as alternates to General Conference and delegates to Jurisdictional Conference are clergy members Gary Beach and Eduardo Bousson and lay members Courtney Fowler and Bryce Bowers.
An additional threeclergy and three lay people were elected to serve as alternate delegates to Jurisdictional Conference and attended General Conference as observers. The clergy members are Jan Todd, Nanette Roberts and Mark Holland, and the lay members are Randall Hodgkinson, Wes Gately and Mary Brooks.
